This is Goldie. Sorry I don't have a better photo -- the horses were already back in their stalls when I took this photo. I think he's a Palomino Quarter Horse, but not 100% sure. He didn't belong to Sandy -- he belonged to the owners of the place she boarded a few of hers horses at during the winter months in order to use their indoor ring. (When they put the place up for sale some years later, she bought it.) She was also allowed to use their horses, and Goldie was the horse I rode all winter my second year of riding. (I hadn't continued through the winter my first year.) This horse was in his 30's, yet I had my first two jumping lessons on him!! He was funny, he sort of "popped" over the small 1½ foot jump rather than do a nice smooth jump! I'd heard he could still jump a 3-foot obstacle! He was an awesome horse, nothing scared him and his canter wasn't much faster than his trot. As he was in his 30's, I'm sure he's no longer around -- so I've left a candle burning for him.
